How important is television? |
Broadcast television is the key to getting large sponsors involved with GL2S. Television is the only way that sponsors get enough visibility to justify the investment of large amounts of money. GL2S.TV will deliver high-quality television programming that will equal any outdoors TV shows currently available.
For each day of a GL2S event 10 cameras will be placed aboard competing boats, Day 1 will be a random draw from a pool of the top boats in the standings, and Day 2 will be the top 10 boats in the current event. In addition, chase boats will be utilized, acting as roving cameras for the entire tournament; these boats will be used to shoot on-water boat footage, the start, the finish and local beauty footage.
Some competitor boats will have a fixed “lipstick” camera mounted high above the deck to shoot continuous action in the cockpit. This footage will be used for special effects like timelapse as well as providing a different angle and perspective to the action. Specialty shooting techniques like helicopter-mounted cameras and SplashCam underwater cameras will also be used to provide additional footage. On land, camera crews will be active; gathering interviews with top teams, sponsors, and local officials.
GL2S will change the nature of salmon tournament fishing on the Great Lakes, raising the profile of the sport, competition, anglers, sponsors, and the communities involved. Great Lakes salmon fishing offers all the elements for compelling and engaging television with beautiful scenery, impressive sportfishing boats, talented anglers, and a variety of weather conditions that can range from serene to extreme. Couple those visuals with a frenzied cockpit, multiple fish on, and anglers choreographing a dance to get them safely to the net and you have a winning combination.
All of these elements will be combined into a format that will engage audiences, build a fan following, and promote sponsor products. GL2S brings to bear the technical experience and creative ability necessary to turn these ideas into realities and build a tournament environment that can sustain an outdoor lifestyle for all those involved.
