Important Update - 4/23/2008
In response to concerns we all have about the cost of fuel and the overall state of the economy, we have decided to make a few changes in the Huntington GL2S Championship Points Series format for 2008. To make it easier for teams to participate, we are lowering the number of events that count toward your total to 3 events from the original 4. We hope this will allow more teams to enter, especially those who don't plan to travel too far from their home port this season. We are keeping the total number of scoring tournaments the same. Previously it was 4 Tournaments + 1 Cull opportunity for a total of 5, the new format is 3 Tournaments + 2 Cull opportunities maintaining a total of 5. Registration for CPS will begin at the Michigan City tournament Captain's meeting on Friday, May 2. The following tournaments are 2008 Huntington GL2S Championship Points Series eligible events: Michigan City - May 3-4 St. Joesph - May 9-11 South Haven - May 16-18 Grand Haven - May 30 - June 1 Muskegon - July 12-13 Ludington - July 19-20 Manistee (Salmon Splash) - July 24-27 Holland - August 1-3 Saugatuck - August 9-10Thank you to all the tournament committees involved for their support! GL2S introduces the Huntington GL2S Championship Point Series a Pro-only points championship for the 2008 season. The Huntington GL2S Championship Points Series is modeled after the NASCAR Sprint Cup, a significant modification that was developed during the transition from the Winston Cup. The scoring is based on a tiered system where higher places are rewarded with greater spreads in points received. See the Points Table - Click Here |
|
1st Place
| Tier 1 - +10 point increment from 2nd | 2nd – 5th Place
| Tier 2 - +5 point increment for each place | | 6th – 10th Place | Tier 3 - +4 point increment for each place | | 11th – 15th Place | Tier 4 - +3 point increment for each place | | 16th – 20th Place | Tier 5 - +2 point increment for each place | | 21st – 100th Place | Tier 6 - +1 point increment for each place | + 101st Place
| Tier 7 - 0 points received |
The system is designed to reward consistency, participation, and also maintain a competitive point series until the very end of the GL2S.08 season. A single point system does not offer enough possibility for movement as the season concludes; this type of tiered system should provide multiple scenarios for top teams to win the series. The Twist For 2008, final ranking will be the accumulative total points from three (3) events, out of all Huntington GL2S.CPS eligible events. Here comes the twist! This is NOT a best three of all your finishes format. Teams must designate a tournament as a scoring event at the captain's meeting prior to fishing that event! Once an event has been designated as a scoring event for a team that selection CAN NOT be changed for any reason, the only case where an event wouldn't be counted is in the rare occurence that a tournament is called off. Otherwise, if your team can't fish a self-designated scoring event, for whatever reason, that will be considered a DNF (Did Not Finish) and points will be awarded based on the place the team ends up. The CullWhat is the Cull? It's a team's ability to buy an extra tournament. Purchasing a Cull will immediately eliminate a team's lowest score and that score will be replaced by whatever points are received for the designated tournament. The Cull is not an hedge - once a cull has been bought the lowest score is thrown out and CAN NOT be recovered. Each team can purchase up to two (2) Culls during the 2008 season. Teams must purchase The Cull at the captain's meeting prior to fishing that event. Entry Fees
