Do all Tournament Trail events qualify as Huntington Events?
$400 to register for the season and an additional $400 to cull an event if you choose to cull for a specific tournament??
There is a lot of gamesmanship with the Points Championship in my opinion. The non-standardized rules at some events make me question the integrity of it in some ways. For example, not all events on the Trail require observers but some do. I think that Huntington events should have observers to level the playing field for all involved. It don't like to assume that anyone is cheating out there, but if people aren't observed they are more likely to do so and could choose to use only non-observed tournaments as their Points Tournaments. With these events too, radio and cell phone silence should be a must. Also, the boats that are using their tournament as a Huntington event need to be disclosed at the captains meeting so that other teams know how many/who is fishing that event that weekend, etc. because it could change some peoples minds on what tournament to use. I do like that you have to declare it though. Hopefully your program holds up that weekend!!!
I would like to know how the GL2S is going to format their events also. I have loved watching the FLW Kingfish/Redfish series championships this off-season and I love how they only register 2 and 1 fish respectively. I like the idea of downsizing the number of fish needed to be registered because I think it has the ability to bring in more participation. Not everyone can go out and catch 10, 12, 15 fish per day but they can catch a lot of nice fish. I think that some newcomers to the game would be more likely to pony up entrance fee money if they felt that had as good of a chance as the next guy at registering a limit. Once the number of registered fish are cut down, the size of the fish becomes important. If we want to gain national attention, big fish are going to be a must and everyone knows that the Kings are getting smaller. Is there a possibility of allowing each team to register their biggest fish each day of a certain number of species?.............Just curious to know how the GL2S is planning to run their events.

However the rules are the same for the entire Pro field for each specific event so all teams are operating under the same guidelines for that event.
As far as observers go - there are only a couple tournaments that come to mind where the Pro field isn't required to have an observer.
As far as communication - non-communication - that is a matter for the individual tournament committee to decide for 2008 and again all teams operate under the same rules. The matter of communication will continue to be a point of contention as there are people on both sides of the argument that all have valid points so I wouldn't presume to apply my own personal opinion on the subject at this time.
Excellent ideas about the format, we wont however be answering those questions until we get much closer to launch, as we are more then a year away, but we love to hear what makes good TV for everyone.
Aside from that we have created a Steering Committee (filling seats as we speak) and that committee will be examining everything including rules, sportsmanship, and competitiveness.

I think Greg and Tom have fished enough tournaments and beeen involved in enough over the past several years to know what makes a good tournament and what doesn't. I also believe they have surrounded themselves with enough talented people and tournament anglers and thier committees will be asking for input and be able to come up with a set of rules that will make everyone happy and the possibility of cheating will be minimized. I have confidence that GL2S will be great.
